Session Nights at Ruth McGowan's
WANTED: Fiddlers, mandolin, guitar, banjo, pipes, accordian, concertina, flute & whistle players and more!
Bring your acoustic instrument down to Ruth McGowan's for evening of great songs and tunes!
This is not an "Open Mike Night" where people come to play for 5 minutes then leave when their song is over.
We'll all be gathered in the dining hall in an ever expanding circle of musicians, playing, drinking and laughing together.
The genre of music at these sessions will be determined by the people who show up to play. Expect a wide variety of music as some people may prefer old-time and blues while others may enjoy traditional Irish and Scottish, and others may want to play some bluegrass. It's a mixed bag of music in one big neighborhood jam session. Check the Calendar for the session schedule.
If you do come down to the pub and don't hear your favorite kind of music being played, please don't leave! Introduce yourself to me. As soon as I find some musicians interested in more than just folk and blues, you can expect more genre specific sessions at Ruth's. The sessions will eventually happen on a weekly basis. Each week will bring something different. The first week could be folk and old blues while the next week a traditional Irish and Scottish seisiún then Old Time and Bluegrass on the following week.
